deep cameo proof 1871 three cent nickel
![michael](https://forums.collectors.com/applications/dashboard/design/images/banned.png)
deep watery mirrors with a deep cameo reverse and a deep cameo plus obverse
silvery white with the flash and blast of a newly struck coin
slight die striations on miss libertys cheek as made and how this date comes
1871 is one of the worst made and usually one of the most poorly mirrored overall ugly coins in the three cent nickel proof series
this coin is an exception

i think one day this will be in a 66 holder at either pcgs or ngc
it has no hairlines or surface marks, nicks etc. technically it is a 66++/67 coin, mark and hairline wise
but the striations on the cheek keep this coin in the market graded 65++ range
eye appeal wise it has the look of a higher graded coin
currently this coin is in an ngc proof 65 ultra cameo holder
Or the next thing I would be on ebay looking for one.

Here's another one you should like. Easy CAM upgrade. THose look like nice watery mirrors. Auction 1884 3CN PR66 (CAM not on holder)

that is a great 1884 three cent nick i think it would get the cameo grade i really like the green tag holder also i think it looks better in the green tag holder then the new blue holder!! i guess everyone is different i really like the clean clear white look of the holder it really showcases this coin!
they are really undervalued coins

afyter thinking about it i think this 1871 i posted is a very very nice 65 coin and if it got upgraqded to a 66 it would be maxed out in a 66 holder i think the eye appeal is much higher but i am happy with the 65 grade as for me it is a very nice 65!! very very and if a collector ever got this coin it would be a great value in a 65 holder

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!! well as jim helprin said in his article on heritagecoins he is sometimes standing in line behind someone else that is looking at a really great coin but doesnot know it and passes and then he gets the shot and takes the coin! he said in an article i got a copy of that this sometimes happens with great coins!
thiaswas the exact scenerio with the 1871 ultra cameo!!
i really oike this coin thing there are always new dicsoveries everyday!!
sincerely michael let me know waht you think of the scan of the coin along with the scan of the monster coloured three cent ptoof nick! before the advent of certification some would have called this rainbow toned thrree cent nick ms!! then worth a huge lots and lots more!
