Pcgs submission. Pay more or less?

PlacidPlacid Posts: 11,299 ✭✭✭
I have a coin that pcgs lists as $100 in ms64 and $400 in ms65. I can't tell if its a 64 or 65 so on the submission form should I enter the grading fee for a coin under $300 or over, or leave it blank?

Put $300 so you don't have to send it more than economy...$400 coins are hardly worth anything but the economy service IMHO

And they won't hold back on giving it the higher price grade. I got an MS70 on a $10 modern submission.

I agree with Morris. Although I've often wondered if the declared value amount affects the grading decisions.

Declared value has nothing to do with the grading decision. In the last 1-2 months I have had coins go thru there that I listed the value at $50 each. Thanks to the grade I sold it for over $3000. The other coin for over $1000. PCGS didn't care that listed the value low.

My form is where someone is sleeping. I thought you payed $30 for coins over $300 and $10 or $15 for coins under. I know the declared value is for shipping insurance but I guess unless a coin is clearly worth over $300 in any grade then pcgs dosen't have a problem with you paying less for the grading fee.

All my coins for submission just became worth less than $300 image
I just hope they don't get lost image
I could overprice the lower value ones to make up some of the difference.

    Thanks.
  • Only bad thing is if you value it at $50.00 and it is a $3000 dollar coin and the mail loses it all you will get is $50.00.Also the grade can make the value vary, cause you never know what they will slab it at. I usually estimate what my cost is in it with grading fees and If its lost at least I recoup my money.

Pennies make dollars, and dollars make slabs!

Placid...just send the coins registered and they won't get lost...if a registered package gets lost and the po, the last person to sign for it loses their job...it is pretty secure.
