I think John Smoltz will break the record for most saves for 1 season.

I think he's on pace to break the record and I think he'll do it, especially with his pace. Thigpen had 57 in 1987 (I believe was the year), and Smoltz had 40 in record time. He saved 40 games quicker than anyone in the history of baseball. It's unbelievable. Here's a guy who was once a dominant starter and is now the most dominant closer in baseball on pace to break the record for saves in a season. Here's a guy who won 24 games in 1996 along with the Cy Young Award, and now their comparing him to Dennis Eckersley. It's amazing. GO BRAVES!

he may, he may not. It all depends on how the Braves play, if they play how they've been since may, then yes, if they hit a couple bumps in the road, no. I got nothing against the guy, I wish him the best. I've(like I told D) have heard rumors of ole' bobby might put him back in the starting rotation as early as next season, since it's unlikely the Braves will be able to keep Maddux and Glavine.

Bobby is not the one that wants to put Smoltz back in the starting rotation. They told him that after this season he could start or close and it would be his decision completely and he said he wants to start again.
