raw 1916-D mercury

Hi Everyone, I have a full set of mercurys and want to sell the set. Should i pull out the 1916-d and have it graded? It seems to be a solid good, maybe a vg. Also I was thinking of going the ebay route. Any suggestions?

i hate plastic, BUT i will shock a lot of other forum members by saying : GET IT GRADED. this is less for the grade, and more for authenticity. i personally feel comfortable recognizing an added "D", but unless you yourself are comfrotable, get a professional opinon. i think the cert. companies are excellent at detecting altered coins.

  • I agree, get it graded. To many phoney 16D's out there. I know I wouldnt buy a raw one.

16-D Mercs are one of the most-altered/most-counterfeited coins. You need the slab to guarantee authenticity to potential buyers.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
