What is DMPL, like in
this Morgan auction?

DMPL stands for "Deep Mirror - Prooflike". Basically, some Morgans have a certain degree of reflectivity in the field of the coin. Depending on how strong the reflectivity is, the coin may qualify for a "PL" (proof-like) or "DMPL" designation. The DMPLs will fetch more money than the PLs, which in turn fetch more money than regular coins.

Deep mirror proof like.
The feilds need to be mirrors.
There is some technical requirement like you have to be able to read a one inch number at 4 feet in the mirror or something like that.
Trying to sell a raw coin as dmpl on eBay is hard if you want to get dmpl money for it.

Deep mirror proof like. It means the fields (mirrors on proofs) are reflective, and the devices are not. Reflectivity is measured by the distance from which a printed page is reflected on the surface (inches). This reflectivity makes the MS coin look prooflike, and is considered desireable.

Deep Mirror Prooflike. The dies used to make these coins were of exceptional quality and the coins look like they are proof. On the best ones the design is white and the background has deep mirror surfaces. They are highly sought after by Morgan Dollar collectors because they are so beautiful and command a big premium. The coin you are looking at is nothing special and that is why the bidding is starting so low. A true DMPL is awesome looking!!!!

Others have described it well, beautiful coins. I collect these with the carson city mintmark. If Michael is around he can really give a detailed description. He will cover every aspect of these coins.
