More shills on eBay. Let's see if they flag this one!

I see this stuff all the time and catch so easily. Why can't eBay? I sent them a message and will see if they respond.

The first link is the first ended auction won by someone in the same part of PA as the seller. Note the low FB and purchase pattern.

The second link is the current auction closing shortly. Same coin same PCGS holder.

They even gave each other feedback on the first transaction!!

  • Great catch, Ebay needs to NARU both of them.

How do you sell the same coin twice? According to the feedback the first transaction was complete.

What bothers me most is there are probably 50X as many out there no one catches.

If natetray@attbi.com comes up high bidder again I'll say you were right.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • Dog97,

If natetray@attbi.com comes up high bidder again, it'll just mean the shill scheme failed again. If natetray bids the price up and doesn't win, it'll mean it worked.

natetray isn't even bidding this time.
Before I get the tar & feathers out:
You need PROOF before you accuse someone of something. Both of them are from Pittsburg-that doesn't prove anything; both of them have low feedback rating-that proves nothing. Neither party have repeat bid, buying or feedback history from each other.
DesertLizard is basing his accusations on 2 different auctions that used the same picture. I agree it looks strange though because if I was going to sell $1,500 coins I wouldn't use stock pictures but it doesn't prove shilling.

  • Dog97, are you a lawyer!!??

Yes, you are right but comeon, can it be more obvious? If eBay allows this maybe I'll get my buddies to bid on my auctions until i get the pric i want.

These two are not the most clever but imagine if eBay won''t even look into it then how are they going to catch the really clever ones using multiple shills?

Leaves a bad tastes in my mouth. I was going to bid on this and now will wait to buy one at a show.

    No, but I own one.
You may be right about it being a shill but my point was that people need proof before they turn somebody in.

if you have any suspicions in a situation like this you should e-mail the seller. he is probably using a scanned coin like dog suggested, though he may also be running a scam. in order for e-bay to prove shilling they would need to have some kind of e-mail or address connection between the two. while it looks shady cause of the scan it wouldn't be the first time a seller used a generic scan and didn't mention it.

i once tracked some auctions for a jefferson $1 to get a price and there was a super brilliant coin that kept showing up. different sellers were using the same photo and i got all worked up about it till i e-mailed one and was told it was a generic scan. not enough bidders use the "ask the seller a question" feature. of course you could be right on this guy but maybe you should e-mail him.
