Superior auction results, can someone explain this?

Auction stated at 585 and finished at 13k+ with only one bidder on a coin expected to bring in $900-1,100.

I have seen many Superior ANA auction results like this one. Any explanation?

There was only one EBAY bidder, but many SUPERIOR FLOOR and Mail bidders. The Ebay bid was executed during the live auction, so a floor bidder beat out everyone else. He must have assumed the coin would grade higher.

Only 1 ebay bidder. There might have been 100 floor bidders. A floor bidder won.

I don't know about the price. Perhaps it was a lock upgrade?

That's gotta be a messup with the results. There was only one floor bidder - there's no way it would have gotten that high with only one bidder.

Note: the lot before it, a 1900 PF65, was estimated at $9-10K so it seems likely to me that the lot results got mixed up.

Or.... maybe here's proof for Wallstreetman that NGC coins aren't all overgraded?

Could have been reserved at that amount and it just cleared.

Greg has it right, the one bid only reflects the number of bids put up by Ebay bidders. It does not include telephone, floor, fax etc. bidders.

I don't understand how an Indian quarter eagle in NGC MS66 could only be worth ~ $1K or so. Isn't that series really tough above MS64?
