I dont like it when people price their own cards....

Take a bibby jersey from his rc year upper deck. This card books 250. I am emailing a guy about a trade and he wants to trade it for 400 instead because he feels bibby is underrated. I really dont like it when people do this! The card books 250 beacuse thats what people pay for it! whether there is 2 card or 5000 cards in teh world, if people are paying 250 for it, thats how much its worth.

By the way- NO OFFENSE AT ALL TO THE GUY WHO IM EMAILING, we can still trade.

if the guy feels its worth 400 to him, then its worth 400.... beckett isnt a set Price book, it is a "GUIDE" on how to price your cards,

Actually, if we want to get down to it....the only real good price guide is the largest marketplace in the world for sportscards.......E-bay. But because it takes some time to analyze the prices on E-bay, it would be nice if we could all just agree to use Beckett. On the other hand, at least he is being upfront about it and telling you that he is giving you his price....not trying to pass it off as Beckett. Everybody has the right to trade their cards for whatever they want and you have the right to tell them to forget it:>}.

On another note, I did hear that E-bay was thinking about publishing a price guide....now that would be nice.

i know, and i said if you want to trade for 400 thats your choice but ill only trade 250 tops for it.

There used to be some nimrod on the CU forum a while back that always tried to price his own cards.He lasted about a week.LOL
While it's nice that this person thinks Bibby is underated & wants more for the card,more than likely he'll be enjoying that card in his collection for a long time to come.
Tell him to put it up for auction on eBay with the starting price of $400.00.Then tell him to email you the eBay item# so we can all watch how this auction ends.LOL!Make sure he puts the counter at the bottom so we'll be able to tell how many people got a laugh from his posting.

ejones- multicolor jerseys are more rare so i think its ok to add a little premium to them. THe bibby is one color. everybosy knows multicolored jerseys carry premiums and i have only added a higher price to jerseys.

Bobstar- Its ok if he wants to trade for 400 cuz its his card, but it does books for 250 cuz thats what people pay for it and i wont go over book unless its a multicolored one

He was straight out front about it, same with this seller at a small card show. He came right out and said, see the bv price, I am looking for 2.5X that in a trade, and that's the only way I trade. Personally it really depends on what you are giving the other person. If you are giving $400 in several $20-$50 cards, then that is different then giving up a $400 card for a $250 card. I would trade up in almost any deal, but not for a game used.

Not that it makes it right in my book, but many times dealers at shows are so hell bent on selling to make their costs back (especially on hotter players like Bibby) that they'll almost refuse to tarde unless they get a ridiculous offer like that. At my last show I was trying to sell my Koren Robinson 1/1 reebok patch for $60, so of course some jerk offeres me $60 in trade. Well, of course I can't do that, especially trading for cards that could be harder to sell.

One dealer wanted to trade GU for my Emmith Smith topps traded rookie psa 9, and he actually offerd to go over book because Emmitt is so hot now and graded rookies usually sell for higher premiums than GU.

I totally agree. Actually I think all GU sucks, that is why I am trying to dump both lots off on ebay. Card companies flooded the market with GU and some boxes have 3-4 or even more. It's like when you have a hot card that sells for full book on ebay and someone wants to trade a card of the same value even though their card only gets around 1/3 book. Sometimes you have to set your own price in trade.

Thats right hitech, especially at shows where dealers ignore book and go with what they can sell a card for. My $25 Emmitt rookie brough in $50 in GU from one guy, who new that Emmitt would sell for $15-17 pretty quickly while he'd be lukcy to get $5-6 each on the GU.

i wouldnt say game used suck.......but they are just so easy to pull
it was exciting when they use to be hard as hell to get like 97-98 ud,,,,you would be lucky 2 get i every case.........now you can get like 2-3 per box if you buy the right box....plus there are 2 many b.s. sub companies..you have upperdeck,then you have inspirations,hardcourt,playmakers.honor roll...man when is it gonna stop!!!

Like someone else said, Becket is only a price GUIDE so people can use whatever prices they feel are fair. If u have a card from your personal collection that u really like and someone wants, it's okay to put a premium on it I think.
