"The experts behind the prices" Hmmmmm

Just a thought for question... Don't want to stir up any womens lib topics here, but here it is... Why does PCGS in their "experts behind the prices" listing on their website only list men? There are no women listed as experts! Even their "deceased" experts are men. Just wondering of course... not that I think they need any women experts, I just thought I'd raise a debatable topic. Hmmmmm..... are women not as involved in this hobby? OK... I'm ready to be nailed.... Let's hear it....

You know, you have a good point. Women have a genetic predisposition to knowing the correct price for everything.image

    and "Where things are"

Recently while my wife was sitting alone reading I witnessed this exchange

Daughter #1 "Mom, where's that harry potter cd that i got for my birthday?"
"in the basement by the stairs"

Daughter #2 "Mom, where's my bike helmet"
"in the back of the car still"

Me "honey, where is that thing I bought at that house auction"
"in the garage by the kayak"

She didn't blink, move, worry, think, NOTHING!! just rattled it off for her entire helpless family.

Maybe I should try "Honey, where's that 1909 S VDB MS70" and she might suprise me!!

The experts remember several years ago when they let that woman run the ANA then they had to run her off several months later and it cost the ANA lots of legal money so they don't let women have any responsibility for important stuff any more.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

Women experts? Believe me, you don't want them. Besides collecting coins i am into Amature Radio and am a ex pilot. The women in ham radio are the type that expect you to get up and give them your seat on a bus. The women pilots I met were all firm belivers in the, "Alternative life style". Go ahead and start you flames ladies!

There are no women listed as experts! because in this field of human endeavor there just happen to be no women experts!! apologies to legend and all the other women involved in numismatics. nothing sexist as far as i see.

look at something like tennis. if you think of the best women playing right now, and the williams sisters come to mind, do you really think they could win on a consistent basis against the best men playing now? i don't think they could, but that doesn't mean they aren't fantastic athletes and premier players. heck they probably could beat a good percentage of the men!

i figure it's the same here. while there are acknowledged experts in numismatics, the top ones just happen to be men right now. if it was otherwise, with the state of the world today, we'd here about it.

of course i could also be terribly naive!!image

  • women experts are just like other people. They know their business, and can do it well.

So men and women experts are equal.

Now, what I believe, is the old ways. Women being treated nice, and letting them have the seat.
The problem with that is, womens lib. has changed many things, that a women should be.

Women shouldn't have to work, and can do well, working at home, with the kids.
Problem with that is, most women these days, have to work, because of the way the economy is setup.
Statistically, it cost more to live now, than it did in the 60's and 70's.

Now, most women want you to treat them as equals. Surely, thats fine, but women aren't men, and men, aren't women.
If you treat a women like a man, that they can do anything a man can do, then they are wrong. Their bodies were not created, so that they can perform like a man can. God did not make womens' bodies to do hard laboring work, like ours'(men).
This doesn't degrade women in any way. It just states that men, are better suited to do hard labor, and the like. Women are better at keeping the family together, and be the incourager of the family. The man should be the leader of the household.
Again, being the leader of the household, does not men, the wmone is any less of a person. A marriage is a partnership. Kids must be taken care of. The women is better suited for this task. It does not mean the father can alienate his children though.
It's the same point I have ben trying to make, is that Women and Men are not equal(genetically or mentally). Women tend to be smarter, while men tend to be the stronger sex. One without the other, in a marriage leads to instability. And a problem with a nation stems from the home, the family. Isn't that where we all are from, a family?

    To sum it up:
Women would be better professionals, when it comes to the mental.
Men will be better professionals, when it comes to the physical.

Jesus set us up a certain way. Why change that way, when he knows better?

To everyone that isn't a christian, Im sorry that I put this in these terms, but this is my beliefs. They also are beliefs, from the bible, that the Lord wanted us to follow. Wouldn't God know more about us, than we do?

  • I think this topic is similar to the earlier question as to why there are so few women in the numismatics field. A few notes on that question was posted earlier. It's probably also why most top corporations have men on the executive boards. It's not that women are not qualified per se. It's mostly due to that few have had any chance to become a major force in the field. As also noted in the earlier post about women, they have other things that would interest them more than numismatics. I'll let the few women forum members voice their opinion as they have done before in the earlier post.

  • Robert: Thanks for that great analysis. You are very right as long as you compare it to our culture here in the US. In many parts of the world, it isn't viewed that way. Besides the task oriented roles you defined (and so well), you forgot to mention that women are more emotional than men. So a lot of their decisions and choices are influenced by their heart. Men are essentially brain dead when it comes down to feelings.

Me being one of the many.

  • True. Thing is, women are better suited for emotions than we are. I myself don't handle emotions well.
Thats why men handle certain situations, than women. Thats why women handle certain situations than men.

It's not that we are brain dead, it's that we are wired differently(physically).
When a child is being born, they are essentially female, and blue eyed/blond.

Things change, and either testosterone circulates, or it doesn't. Testosterone kills certain parts of the brain(thats where you get your brain dead theory LOL), and other things happen, poof, it's a boy!

Anyways, Im off to bed, gnite all.

  • Robert,

Well put.... I agree with everything that you have stated. I also believe that our God built us differently and that we should respect the roles he designed for us. I was just crusing through the PCGS website and noticed that there were no women listed. I had my own thoughts as to why that was so my whole point of this thread was just to get other opinions. I agree with everything that was stated. My wife is incredible and I don't know how I'd get along without her. I think her opinion of coins and numismatics (sp?) is the same as MOST (not all) women. She couldn't care less although she is very happy that I have found a hobby that I find rewarding.
