Today I picked up a 1996 Topps Chrome Basketball Box!!!!

I Havent opened it and i dont think i will. It took alot to get it. There chould be anything in it. Hell there chould be 3 kobes in it. I am thinking about sitting on it till next year what do you think i should do?

I remember back in '97, I bought me a pack of Topps Chrome basketball cards. I pulled a Kobe Bryant rc and kept in mint ever season. It's now laying peacefully in my bank account.

I dont think you have ever seen a chrome box for sale if you EVER see a box for under 500 get as many as you can. You dont want to know what i paid. Another note i bought 2 and traded one of them at the show.

i would say it all depends did you buy it as an ivestment i am guessing no since you are thinking of opening it ......well either way make sure if you do open let us all know what you get

If you rip it let us know the results. I would personally would consider sitting on it till next playoffs and selling it on Ebay around then for a better return. Then again if AI has a crap season that box value will go down. It would be scary to sit on the box knowing it's value depends on 2 players having good years.

The only place I know that sells packs has them going for $55 each, so 2 boxes at 24 packs a box = god vittle did you sell/trade a kidney?

Keep it sealed man. I have a few boxes of 96 chrome sitting and you know they won't lose their value. The boxes start getting harder and harder to find. I was tempted to open a 98-99 Sp authentic box but decided to list it. Only other thing I'd do with that box is sell it, why open it and risk getting crap. Remember, there are big centering issues with 96 chrome so even if you pull a kobe, could be off centered. Only thing I'd want would be the Refractor RC's but they are pretty tough to get.

But if you decide to live dangerously, let us know what you get. I have an itch for chrome now, might open a 98-99 chrome box tonight.

I just got back in. I am going to sleep on it i almost cracked it in the car lol. I am thinking what if i pull nothing. I am going to look around and see if i can sell it or trade it because i dont think i can take the chance to open it. I have a guy i always deal with on high end stuff and he asked me to pick him up one and he is the guy i traded the second box to. I am sure he whould like a second. Ill Keep you all posted he hasnt opened up the box yet but he said he will lemme know.

the centering is always a factor, i change my mind about the last post, keep it sealed for a while at least and see what the market for the sealed boxs go for, i wouldnt sell it right away though

i would probably keep it sealed for a while you. its easy to say "rip it open" when you dont have it, lol. If anyone can read the future or use tarot cards, vittleboy could use some help..

Its hard to give an opinion here. Im sure its much much different when you are the one that has the box. Its easy for us all to say "rip it" cause its not ours and we want to see if you like pull a gem mint 10 kobe refractor or something. Just like the people on the price is right shouting to go for the $16,000 when you already got the $8,000. Its easy to say go for it when its not yours

Why not sell it and buy a kobe? I got a kobe BGS 9 chrome id sell for half, then you could have a kobe and cash. I mean if you can pull a G on the box why would you open it? You could buy 4 to 5 NICE kobes chromes for a G. You could almost buy a Kobe Refractor
