Park Ave. Numismatics

Has anyone had any dealings with Park Ave. Numismatic? I don't recall ever seeing them discussed on this forum. They currently have a couple of items I will be requesting scans of. Any feedback will, as always, be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I bought a set of Silver Maple Leaf coins from them on ebay. Great price. Also a Large cent direct from them. Nice coin, but a bit pricey. No problem on either transaction. md

  • Over the last year or so, I've seen several modern commems from Park Ave. Numismatists. Their starting bids are always way above David Hall's buy it now; which, in turn, are above the catalog price of Tulving Co. So I've never bid---never seen anyting I wanted with a fair starting bid.

I see their ads in CoinWorld from time to time. About six months ago, I got an unsolicited e-mail from them offering me an early 50's proof DCAM Lincoln, which was a pop 1 coin. I think they picked up my e-mail address from the PCGS Registry. A friend who also has a set on the Lincoln Proof Registry also got an e-mail like it the very same day. Their asking price was around $30K, which I thought to be absurd. I am leary about unsolicited offers for alleged $30K coins!

Their ads in CoinWorld seem to focus on VERY high grade PCGS and NGC coins, with advertised prices VERY high. I have not had an personal dealings with them, so I don't know how well they negotiate.

I've done quite a few deals with Bob Green of Park Ave Numismatics and have always been satisfied with the outcome. Their items seem a bit pricey at times, but they've always done what they said they'd do.

    Good luck!

  • They can be somewhat overpriced, but on the few coins I have purchased from them, the quality was great and I was satisfied.

Bob Green has no eye for nice coins, just buys what they can and sells at the highest prices, IMHO.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.
  • A while back I bought a few coins from them. The coins were not accurately described, they had exceptionally weak strikes, but were slabbed MS6*

They also seem disorganized. I would not buy from them again unless I was on site looking at the coin.
