What I got in change today,

How many of us have the correct change in our pocket to get a dollar bill in return for what we have paid for, but how many of us don't give it to the cashier? We want the change! Today I got back a 1939 Nickel. When was the last time you had that happened to you? Then the suspense starts, you turn it over looking for the "d". You don't see it, but now your'e a little bit older and maybe you need your loupe. You get home and look and realize it's not there, but boy it was exciting for awhile. This experience hadn't happened for awhile and by gosh it was fun!!! That's why I collect, for the suspense and the hunt. I felt like I was eight years old again. It was great, a little boy again for a few seconds.

Believe it or not, I was just thinking that same thing this morning. I went to the supermarket for a couple things and had to go back because I forgot something. When I got to the cashier again I let her break a $20 instead of using the change she just gave me minutes before. I hadn't had a chance to look at them yet!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
