Advice on a coin and ebay seller

http://cgi.aol.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1371389744

Sorry I can not make a proper link. Has anyone had dealings with Breneau@evl1.net on ebay? and if my above link works do you have an opinion on the BIN price?

Thanks

Just wanted you to know your link works fine, but I don't know about prices for Oregons, so will let someone more knowledgeable answer you on that image

If you decide to buy it, you can have them ship it to me, and I'd mail it to you, if you'd like image

  • well out of 12000+ feedbacks he only has 1 negative, so maybe he's alright. of course if you read his feedback you'll notice he gets between 10-23 fedbacks in a row from almost everyone he's sold to. almost sounds like he cheated to get his rating high, if that were possible

  • sjbrian........ I noticed that. That was the main reason I asked the question here from more experienced dealers.

Susan.....That is a very nice offer.... If he replies (usually they don't) that he will sell to me I will possibly take you up on that...... it would be worth a little "bonus" to you. Thanks

Ask price on this coin is $150 so $15 over ask isn't that big of a deal. If it was me, I would just snip it at $155 and change. I have a saying, "there's always another streetcar coming down the tracks". Good luck

The only thing I can tell from the itty bitty pict is that it is a 1937-D OREGON HALF NGC MS-64. Can't tell if it's a nice one, bad one or what. As far as the feedback 1 neg out of 12,000 aint too shabby. Lots of people only do feedback every week or month so if they have bought a lot of items from this sell over the month all their feedback will register all in a row. No need for alarm.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • sounds like an honorable seller. read the 1 neg feedback - it's kinda funny. buyer complains they got an 1884 not an 1884-P as specified in the auction. (reminds me of the negs i get - same sort of inane trash)

i just bought a coin from him a week or so ago.
a fine seller from my experience.
  • I have bought several silver Ikes in the mint packaging and have had some nice coins come back from pcgs at MS67 and some were'nt that high, but overall have been happy with the coins.Transaction was simple and fast shipping with no problems whatsoever.

  • Thanks for the replies...all

He has responded to my mail and says he will consider selling to me if I pay the actual shipping costs..... I already said I would but I will say yes again.

I'm going to go for the BIN if he agrees

    Thanks

I found the only negative...a buyer bought an 1888-p morgan, guy complained there was no "P" on the morgan, so it isnt a phili strike image

I don't know zilch about the coin in the auction, but I've bought from the seller a couple times. Transactions were smooth enough, but he lost me when I asked him for a larger scan of a Walker he had listed, and he wouldn't provide it. Then I asked him how much skirt chatter it had, and he replied "I'm not sure what that is, I don't normally deal with these". Funny, he had dozens listed at the time.

  • Russ.. thanks for the info
I have mailed him back that I would be glad to pay the extra and actual post costs but have not had a reply.
I am not sure but I think it is not correct for me to "go for the BIN" without his answer.

    Hey, Newbie-----

I don't know the seller, but even though the picture is small that looks like a nice, solid example of an Oregon. The BIN price is fine. Any time you can get a nice 64 for this series under $180. You're doing all right. Your risk is minimal, it's re-sale value will hold up, even if you find an upgrade later. Let us know how it turns out.

I've always believed if you feel uncomforable about an auction (or any deal for that matter), just don't do it. It is not like there are that many unique coins out there or once in a lifetime deals.

    image
  • Well........ I just put in my BIN offer and it was of course accepted. I sent a mail to the seller asking for the total price including my extra posting costs and now I wait for a reply.
I sure hope I have not hurt his auction by making my offer and not being sure he will ship to me.

Maybe I reacted too fast but I want the coin and was afraid I would lose it. This has happened to me many times on Ebay.... with my time difference, and needing to sleep.....I miss the auction updates and lose out.

I hope I did not do something wrong here.

Thanks to all for the advise and help..... I will let you know if it comes out OK or if I did a whoopsie!!

  • prooflike........ my last post jumped your's

I am not uncomfortable with the price or the coin.....I want it.

I did ask for advice on the price range and got some good input. That was 100% good enough for me.The members here have a ton of experience compared to me.

What I DO NOT want is to screw-up someones auction. Thanks for your input..I now wait for the sellers reply.

You didn't do a thing wrong. The guy should count his lucky stars. He has an honest, polite buyer for the coin.

  • Well....I bought it for $165 plus $10 postage. I have paypaed the funds and now will just wait for the coin.

My great thanks to all who have helped me with my questions on this. It is, of course, a small point to most but something I needed (and received) advice and direction on.

If I could get mt blasted scanner to work I would post a scan of the coin when I get it.

    Anyway...enough of me and

    THANKS

Newbie, I agree with Clankeye, you didn't do anything wrong by buying the coin. Other potential buyers have an equal chance to buy the coin, through bidding or buying BIN. In any case, it's great that you are so conscienscious about others' feelings.

Newbie, just curious. What made you decide to move to Norway, as apposed to some other country?

  • Susan........

My wife (soon to be ex unfortunately) is from Norway. I met her here in 1977. I had quite a few places I liked and had lived in around the world and chose Norway...... she likes it of course and it was OK for me.
