Regrade question

I have a few coins in the old holders. I appologize to you veterans but the old holders look very poor and the coins often rattle and they don't even fit in an "official PCGS box".
So, I was thinking of resubmitting a couple.
Now, my fear is that they would be down graded. Is that possible? Also, if I just tell them I want a new case will they just do that without grading at all?
Any help would be appreciated!

Let me clarify. You can put "minimum grade" on any regrade/upgrade attempts and it CANNOT go down!
Please clarify as I really did not know that!
It might be wothwhile to send them in for regrade. If you put down the existing grade as the minimum grade that you will accept they will at least come back at the same grade they are now. I have done that with several of my Morgans and received some very nice upgrades- an 1897 MS63 PL came back MS64 DMPL, and 1879 MS63 DMPL came back MS64 DMPL, an 1889 MS63DMPL came back MS64 DMPL and several others upgraded. Some did stay the same and the only one that I cracked out, an 1880 MS64 DMPL came back MS64 PL. If you are worried about fingerprints don't send them in at all because to reholder them they have to be "handled".
Good Luck.

Good point. If the coin would receive a lower grade, this is where the PCGS guarantee comes into play and they would take care of you.
