... and they were better than I thought! 
I broke down and bought an unc half eagle and silver dollar for the 2002 winter olympics since I read a coin world article and thought the mintages might be low enough to make them at least hold their value. The half eagle is pretty boring, but well struck, not problems. I was quite surprised by the silver dollar as it has half the obverse struck in this texturized motif to look like snow or ice I guess and it looks pretty cool. You really can't see this well in photos, but in person it's a nice look, and I bet it's even better on the proof. The reverse is pretty boring though. I was just expecting to get what I thought were some of the most boring designs yet on a modern commem, and it wasn't as bad as I thought!
