Well, it has happened...........I was wondering how long it would take before someone started making copies of the '33 Saint. I saw em on TV tonight...........1933 Proof Saints. I forget the name of the maker, but they were going for the low low price of only $19.95. The regular issue price is gonna be $39.95. They did set a limit of 5 per household. It was a nice looking coin, but it said something about it being 10mil gold whatever that is...........gold-plated copper, maybe? They did tell one little fib in the ad, though. They said the one that sold was the only one known to exist. Aren't there 2 others in the Smithsonian?

I suppose it's a matter of taste, but I wouldn't get one. It's misleading to those who don't know better and it leaves a sour taste in my mouth. There's also a Morgan dollar proof that's being sold in a similar manner. If you know what they actually are and still want one, then maybe it's not really that big of a deal. As for whether there are any other original 1933 Saints out there, I can pretty much assure you that they are out there, along with the 1964D Peace dollars and 1974 aluminum cents. They're all illegal to own, which is why you're not hearing anything about them. Only the auctioned '33 Saint is legal.
