The Standing Liberty Quarter of course. And yes the original design is much better.

    Least favorite

The Lincoln Cent. That is one ugly coin.

Favorite US coin(s) :Standing Liberty Qtr,Mercury dimes and the Buffalo nickels and St.Gaudins XXEagles

Least favorite US Coin: Shriver Special Olympic $1 and Matron Head Large cent.

Edited to censor myself....image and add Peace Dollars as a Fav.
  • My favorite coin design is a tie between a extremely high relief 1907 St. Gaudens $20 piece and a 1793 Half Cent. (even though I won't be able to afford either for quite some time).

My least favorite design is the Matron Head Large Cent from 1816-1835. (although there is no coin that I hate, I love all coins).

it seems my favorite RIGHT NOW is any nicely toned bust half XF or better. as for a design i don't care for, maybe just the fact that old designs are being re-used---SAE, GAE, and stuff like that---instead of using newer designs.

The best design(s) for me has to be the quarter Eagle, half Eagle, and Eagle Indian gold pcs ( I will throw the saint in there too, to round out the series).
The worst................... the Jefferson nickel ( mostly because it replaced the beautiful Buffalo nickel)

Least - tie Jeff Nickel and SBA $
Buy the coin...but be sure to pay for it.

Least favorite: Susan B Anthony Dollar. Could very well be the only coin in history where the person on the coin is even uglier then an already ugly design.

Favorite: The proof Kennedy Half Dollar with emphasis on the '64, of course. Although, if I were a rich dude, proof Walker's would be nip and tuck.image

Some of my own personal favorites (in no particular order): Saints, Morgans, Standing Liberty quarters (especially Type One), Barbers (especially halves),, Walkers, Indian cents, Ten Liberties, Seated halves, 1836-39 halves, Trade dollars, Mercury dimes. I have a lot of favorites.

Favorite foreign—probably the Britannia gold piece.

Least favorite—Anthony and Shriver dollars. (A Maria Shriver dollar would have looked better.)

My favorite is the gold $5 Indian half eagle with the incused design. This is the first US coin to portray an Indian.

    • Favorite design has got to be the 1837 No Stars Seated Liberty Dime and Half-Dime. The simplicity of the design, but powerful Miss Liberty speaks volumes to me. For me this was the epitome of our coinage. Once the stars were added to the design and latter the arrows, they competed for my attention and did little to enhance the basic design. I do like the simple things.

Least favorite - well to be quite honest and not to raise anyone hackles, I was never partial to the Barber designs. To me they seem sorta flat and lifeless and really don't speak to me in any way.
