Swans Down

I have de-listed my type set. I will let the forum know the disposition of my coins when I decide my future direction. I will stay involved with type collecting and I will have quality photos of the key coins on another web site soon. I'll advise when complete. Feel free to PM or e-mail any questions. Good luck to those that just moved up and...

    Jim,
Congratulations on your accomplishment. I'm sure High Desert will have some interest in your best pieces so he can avg over 65. Drop by the threads once in a while and give us an update. I would be very interested in seeing the pics.

Would you mind sharing why you have chosen to dispose of part of the set? I can think of a number of reasons. I hope it is to free up capital to buy a different series of coins.

  • Sound like you are making the move over to the NGC Regestry?

  • No, I am not moving to NGC! I am mainly interested in all high grade type coins prior to 1840...I accepted the challenge of building a complete type set after I sold my mint state SLQ set in 1995 (before registery), and now that the type set is complete, I have little interest in keeping the post 1840 coins. So I will now have a complete "early" set that means little to the registry. I will continue to attend most major shows and auctions to look for important coins and will stay involved in type collecting.

    Thanks and Best Regards,

sounds to me like the change of the guard. can you post pictures at the registry since you'll be holding onto a spot in the all-time list for quite some time i'm sure. great accomplishment.

  • I was wondering as I move up in the rankings if you have anything early and significant to dispose of. Also I do not list my oldtime collection for security reasons-any thoughts on this? Many thanks although a real collector am new to this public forum.
