. Has any other state had an internet vote to pick the states quarter? Won't it be cool if Maine was the first and we are a part of it. Gov King sure love the internet. He well we the people of Maine are buying all 7th graders a laptop.

  • If they do I'd love to see the choices beforehand. The thread that was run a few weeks ago about the boards choice for the Calif.design was funny.

I think most of the states have had internet voting on their designs. In some cases the winning designs have even been used. In others the mint has basicly chucked the winning design and said to the states "Here's what your quarter will look like.".

    Mac,

How well do you like the Maine design compared to the others, so far. I would have to rank it right up there near the top as one of the best designs. Maybe THE best design. image

FYI, the bottom left coin on this website is the chosen design. I was designed by fellow board member, dcarr.

  • I'm not from Maine, but thats the design I would have chosen too. Way to go Maine!

Hate to be the one to tell you guys the mint has already redesigned the coin. Look at page 3 in the Aug. 19th Coin world. The original looks a lot better but maybe they had to redesign it for technical reasons.
  • That is the design I voted for and I hope I will be able to get hold of one once they are out. It looks like a design that will be nice on a coin..IMHO

The April 19th article relates to the mints redesign of one of the other non-winning designs. It does mention that the mint did redesign the lighthouse design but but it is not shown. So we don't know yet what they have done to it.
  • The September 2nd Coin World shows the design Daniel J. Carr submitted. I can't understand why the Mint has to misrepresent such a beautiful design, unless the U.S Mint Engravers just don't want to take enough time to create anything even remotely artistic. Either that or it would look out of place with what has come before it? It's a shame when a State comes up with such a beautifuly simple and historically accurate rendering, only to have it made into a cartoonish sham. image
