Every time he runs that auction, the price goes up.

I am going to bid. I want to see that guy become a Christian.

Then, we can introduce him to Deb, who misses Harold dreadfully.

Interesting approach. It got no bids last month at $38,000, so he puts it up at 3x the price this time? Doesn't this cost him anything in ebay fees?

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Maybe he is re-listing with a different start? I have never sold anything on ebay, but doesn't a relisting not incur additional fees?

Only if it sells, and you cannot increase the price in the re-list.

"Why waste your money in the stock market at least you will get a return on your money here and won't lose it all. "

At a $138K it would actually be worse than the stock market. He only has 8 of them and no one else has one because they sent them back and wanted a better one san the crack.

Die crack or high on crack?
    BOTH!!
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

  • << <i>It has been up for auction now for 3 months and no one has shown me another coin like it and thousands have viewed the coin????? >>

Think he might get the hint. If you buy the "coin" with the "crack" will he include his "pipe" with the "crack"

Well, I guess the price will keep going up untill the item is sold. What a nifty idea, no bids , raise the price? image Bear

Uhh... what is the maximum starting bid that ebay's software will allow?

Could he list it for enough money to pay off the national debt?

"least you will get a return on your money here and won't lose it all"

I would think that such an astute numismatist such as the seller, would keep this gem for himself to just keep on appreciating.

Reminds me of the ANA show I went to in Salt Lake. Some dealer pulls me over to the table, flashes a bunch of generic, slabbed Gold commem's or some other inane trite junk and proudly proclaims, "you should get these now, they will easily appreciate 50% to 100 Percent". I was thinking..."and rob you of all that appreciation"? No thank you!!

  • Lets give um the benefit of the doubt. How many die cracks on a Proof coin do you find?

Now that, that is said: To me, without a better pic, looks like a razor blade cut in plastic.
    I could be wrong.

Now, what we need is some pros at error coins, to tell us what a coin, with only 8 with the error, would be worth?

I saw the Lincoln with a Dime Reverse, that was going for $80k-100k I would like to have that coin, cause then I could sell it and pay off my moms house note.

Granted, this could be the real deal, BUT, as I have read about 'true' mint errors, people usually send the coin into the mint, and get the error verified first. For $110k, their is no way he is gonna sell this, without backing it up with some serious facts.

I think that the coin is cool. I would pay $10.00-20.00 easy.

I've seen a few dozen, and I don't look for them. They aren't common but they do show up. I'd rather have a proof on a clipped planchet. They are a lot tougher. (Actually had one once and didn't realize it. Collector came into the shop and bought a 69 proof set. He came back the next day and wanted to return it because it was defective. I said sure, got out the other 1969 sets while I asked what was wrong with it. He said the quarter was bad. So I opened the box and pulled the set out. It was bad all right, had a 15% clipped planchet. I told him I would be MORE than happy to let him swap the set if he wanted to, but that the clipped proof quarter was worth well more than what he paid for the set and that I was willing to buy the set back from him at a profit and let him have another set as well. Sure I could have kept my mouth shut and just swapped the sets but I didn't feel that was right. He kept the set and bought a replacement.)

@steve76020 why do you keep resurrecting 20 year old threads that are essentially about nothing? Honest question, I'm truly interested because I don't understand the point. This is the second one that is currently on the first page.

These old threads get me every time! I start reading the responses and wonder, “who are these people.” Then I notice the date! Ugh!

Same... I'm reading halfway through the thread then realizing it's 20 years old...

But what are you calling BS on? The link in the OP is inactive, theres no pictures, and I have no actual clue what this thread is about other than some unidentified proof with a possible die crack. How were you able to form an opinion?
