4th clue: There are no buildings, monuments or houses anywhere on this coin but if you look at the reverse in the background you can see where we all live.
Clue number three is misleading, Adlai Stevenson II lost the 1960 Democratic primary to John Kennedy, but that's not the political connection you were referring to.
"It's far easier to fight for principles, than to live up to them." Adlai Stevenson
Yahoooo! Your first clue "After 64 and before 1980" could only fit the Eisenhower Silver but it could have been a trick question... It could have been any coin minted between 64 and 80.
I was hinging on the Kennedy and the Eisenhower and when you threw Adlai Stevenson into the mix... He was Eisenhowers VP but Adlai Stevenson also had the Sat. Photo's of Cuba during the missle crisis (Kennedy).
When you said it showed no buildings..etc but it's where we all live... I thought of that Eagle on the Moon and the Earth in the distance... which applies to Eisenhower and Susan B. Anthony.... thus ruling out the Kennedy.
So Which Ike? The 74D as some of them were minted in Silver Clad by accident? The 74 because it was the last one before the Bicentenial came out? The 1971? Because it was the first coin? For my final answer, I chose the 1978D as the first Clue stated "Mint Mark" and I was pretty sure it was not the San Francisco Mint... which left the only mint mark "D".
Thank You for running the contest, it kept everyone challenged! -David
congratulations, dakra, this is a nice BU roll. Prooflike you almost had it. I have a few other rolls that make more sense to give away rather than to put on ebay. Let me know if you enjoyed this, I will try to make the next one more interesting.
I sure did enjoy it. I was close on my first guess, you threw me off, then I had to think (I hate thinking!) My next guess was actually the 1974D but someone else picked that and the 1978D would have been my last guess... I was about to give up! and hoped I didn't have to get up at 1am so I could make another guess :-)
Knowing your ebay ID, I actually went through a good deal of your auctions to see if I could come up with any clues and I wondered if what you were offering could have been a Canadian coin!!
While I have your attention, I noticed that you do deal with some Canadian Coins and Baseball cards. I have a bunch of Canadian Coins and Baseball cards that I'm looking to get rid of, I could make you a list and if there are any you might be interested in, I could give you pretty cheap. (If you think you can get $100, give me $20) I sent you my email address and home address through a message from this board, I'm not sure if your received it (let me know if you didn't) but if you did and your interested, let me know.
now that's embarrasing... somewhere, somehow, while investigating what the roll could be, I came across AH-Collectibles and attributed that ebay ID to you... (sorry) :-)
