    "there were no PR69DCAM'S"
Is that just PCGS or all Services?
Follow up question: Is this also because these sets haven't been cherried yet or is the 69DCAM just impossible with some of these?

wonder how long before they "adjust" the price guide to reflect to new prices that they can charge

I had to read it twice myself. He wrote that there were no

I think the set are all cherried out, and yes it is very tough, I have been trying to make a 71-S in a 69DCAM for years (at 11 grand you can see why).image

If the number is not a single digit graded coin braddick won't collect it!!!

seems a few of those were a tad over list price....... that sucks.
  • I was figuring on 1500 max for the 71S, I was just a bit off!! I was also surprised at some of the PR70s. Seem's like yesterday that they were selling for 300-450....

Will we see a new number one in the proofs soon?

  • Could someone explain the difference in price in the 74 and76? The 74 pop is around 27 and the 76 is about33. Why would the 76 command a grand more for a higher pop coin?

With more of the top pop coin tied up in collections, your going to see high prices on the top of the line modern proofs. Or until PCGS starts giving out better grades.

Is that single digit as in pops, or single digit as in grade ("1")? image

WOW! I think I better stop throwing out the pennies from the proof sets I go through.

  • It's been obvious to me for some time that you cannot get those for the price in the PCGS price guide. but a lot of the Bullet Sale prices FAR more than I would have expected!

I don't know Nick T. had a PR70DCAM Lincoln that went for over $900 on E-Bay. There are only a limited number of PR70DCAMs out there, until PCGS starts giving more out the prices are only goin to climb.

From talk I heard at the ANA in NYC, I believe that the winner of many of those lots is a well-known dealer who has a mandate from a customer to build him the best possible modern Lincoln proof set - no constraints!!!! image

Whether or not the set shows up on the registry someday remains to be seen. My guess is that sooner or later the set will be listed because the dealer is well-known for building registry sets. image

I wonder if the prices in that auction will (1) encourage some collectors to sell some of their proofs and/or (2) send many coin-sharpies into a frenzy seeking out additional proof sets in the hopes of finding some high grades - it seems PCGS is through with PR70DCAMs for a while, but low-pop 69s should be doable. image

The scary thing is that for the 71-s to sell for $11,500, there had to be someone ELSE willing to pay $11,000+ or the bid would have never gotten that high

  • MadMartyMadMarty Posts: 16,697 ✭✭✭
I was sitting as high bidder for the whole week on the 71-S at $1100. Things kinda went crazy a day before the auction. It was like the 1960 LD PR69DCAM in the Sig sale, it went for $3300...

Trivia question for the year 2005:

What do tulips, dot.com stocks, and super-high grade proofs have in common?

  • I guess Lincolns are popular (duh). Jeffersons are tougher in 69 DCAM and much cheaper. I admit I am surprised by these prices. It looks like the sheets will have to bump their prices before the next printing...
