Smoltz is definitely a top candidate...but in my opinion, I don't think a pitcher should win a MVP award. That's why the have the Cy Young award for...it's a pitcher's award. I do believe Smoltz should win the NL Cy Young Award though. I don't think anyone has been more dominant, other than Schilling, who's also having a great season. Peter Gammons even said it should either be Smoltz or Schilling...and I'd have to go with Smoltzie...he's been outstanding...and that's an understatement.

NL MVP -- That's a very tough choice, but I'm going to have to go with Bonds. I know some of you might think I'm crazy, but hey, if there wasn't Barry Bonds in that Giant lineup, then the Giants wouldn't even be close. He makes that team what it is...no question about that.

AL MVP -- I'm going to have to go with Soriano of the Yankees. This guy has been unbelievable! Not just his offense has exploded, but on the defensive end, he's been great as well. He's basically carried the Yankees and has won many games for them with his defensive, his offense, or even both on some occassions. No one deserves it more than him in my opinion.

AL MVP -- Derek Lowe. Nuff said...

  • When looking at the MVP it doesn't mean the best player or else Alex Rodriguez would win it this year. I think Giambi and Soriano are great canidates but they have such a deep team that the yankees would still win if one of them went down. I think Miguel Tejada and Tori Hunter are going to get a lot of votes. The A's have been hitting horrible this year but Tejada is having a career year. Hunter won't get it I don't think jsut cause they play in such a weak divison that the press might think the Twins would still be in first without him. If the A's did not have Tejada they would be a lot farther back, the guy is a machine. In the NL I think it should go to Bonds hands down. The Giants are very weak without him and he has the most impact on any player in the NL. Valid cases can be made for Sheffield, Berkman, Gagne, Shawn Green, and SMoltz and Schilling. I think the Cy young award is going to be tight in the NL with Schilling edging out Gagne and Smoltz. I think Smoltz and Gagne will end up splitting some votes and Schilling will barely win. Also remember that they vote before the post season starts so there is only about a month and half left. I think they AL cy young will go to Pedro once again, he has been dominating the past 2 months. Lowe, Mulder, and Jamie Moyer are all making valid cases as well. Only way that Pedro doesn't win is if he gets hurt or if Lowe steals a lot of votes from him, which could happen since there are a lot of East Coast votes. That is another reason Tejada wins the MVP is cause Soriano and Giambi will split too many votes. Everyone post their thoughts and your arguments.

Alex Rodriguez... u all forget about him... even though his team isn't winning much, but look @ his #'s

sonic-Most valuable player. Yeah Arod is Great, he's prolly gonna go down as one of the best ever(if not the best ever) but he isn't helping his team win games, with or without him, they would still lose alot of games.
