Comments on the NY ANA show.......

My report from ANA show........

Attendance is down from Atlanta ANA show which had 20,000 in attendance.......

NY ANA had approximately 14,000 so far according to two ANA officials.

This flies in the face of the apprearance of the show which seemed very well attended, at least today. I suspect this is so since the dealer bourse areas were much tighter packed than previously. The NY weather has also been well into the 90's everyday which probably does not help attendance. The dealers comments ranged from "good" to "exceeded our most optimistic hopes."

I polled 50 dealers just to make sure. The coin market's strength may also have something to do with the overall positive dealer commentary..........

I must admit the 71S blew me away. I knew they were hard but at that number I was shocked.

well 2 or 3 are already taken and are probably NOT going anywhere (Honeycutt and CLS are registered, and then there is Stewart's hidden set that I would not be surprized if it have one).

That makes the coin a pop 2 or pop 1. Still outragous, but I guess $11K doesn't mean as much to some as others.

The 1971-S PCGS PR 69 DCAM is pop 4.

Wayne, I think he meant with the two already spoken for that leaves 1 or 2, I guess like net grading there is net poping.

Yup Wayne, net pop. Like any finest knowns that you own I cut out of my pop counts. Just think what it would take to get one of you MS68's from you. So as far as I am considered, the coin doesn't exist in my possiblities. Now that that the 71-S went for $11K+, that one is out of the picture. So to me it is eaither a pop 1 or pop 0 coin.

Of course, the pop could increase someday to 5 or 6 or who knows. Actually, the pop went from 4 to 6 about 6-8 weeks ago, but that only lasted for a week - then it dropped back to 4 again. I wonder what that meant? A database error?

He then sent the inserts back in to lower the pop so the coin is worth more money

actually I am glad he sent them back. At least it keeps the pops a little more "honest"
