A scary thought

On PSA's shipping instructions, they require you to clearly mark the type of service you are requesting on the outside of your package.
I get night sweats thinking about having to "clearly" write "VINTAGE COMMON" on the outside of my package. The other services......"Modern bulk"......"Economy"....."Regular".....they all sound pretty calm and boring......but, "VINTAGE COMMON"!!!!
To me, this is an invitation for some disgruntled postal worker along the way from here to Newport Beach, to make his kid happy by taking him home a box of "VINTAGE COMMONS" to play with.
Does anybody else have a problem writing this on your package, or is it just me??

    To avoid your cold sweats, list it as "Vint.Comm" - Only PSA should know what that means. Plus if your package is sent registered to PSA, someone has accountability each step of the way. So even if the package was marked "Fragile - Diamonds enclosed" It would be rough for any worker to steal it. Plus I'm sure that perhaps half the people submitting orders to PSA fail to write anything on the package...jay
  • SayitaintsoJoe63,

    Mark the package V/C Bulk if that would make you feel more comfortable. Or just Bulk.

    Question....
    For the different Registry Specials, what do we put on the outside?

    "Other", or "Registry Special"or what?

    BKAH,

    I just wrote "Set Registry Special" on the outside of my box...(sent registered mail)

    Regards,

    Alan

    BTW - I don't break out in cold sweats because my package is insured for replacement value. If somebody decides to make their kids happy with my cards...I will be made happy by the USPS with an insurance check (after 50 phone calls and a few months)

    So true Alan.
  • I have never scribbled anything on the outside of the box. And, with several submissions under my belt, I have yet to have cards come back later than promised. Sorry, but PSA will have to deal with it, if it ever delays my package at all, I'm ok with it. Peace of mind.

    Writing anything on the outside is just an invitation for anyone to mess with the package...

    My two cents...

  • Another thought on this topic. If this is a concern for PSA to route packages quicker, maybe they should create stickers that we can use. A package comes in with a color coded sticker, PSA knows where to route it. What do you think?

  • I think I don't want to pay for the stickers.

    Thanks Alan.
    That is exactly what I put on my registered package... so it should be fine!

    as to the stickers, I am with Bruce. Let's not get any other "steps" or "costs" involved in this process.

    it Might be a good idea to devise a standard "shorthand code" for the sumissions like charlie suggested.

    "VINTAGE COMMON" = V/C
    "Modern bulk" = M/B
    "Economy" = Ecc
    "Regular" = Reg

    etc...

  • I just write "vintage common" on the box and send it registered mail.

    I figure the fact that I usually insure it for several thousand dollars is enough to give a postal thief the idea that something valuable is in there. If the postal thief is a card collector, I figure that the fact that the box says "PSA" on it in big letters, seeing as PSA is the addressee, is another major clue. If I wrote "stuff not worth enough to bother with" on the box, I doubt they'd be fooled, seeing as these other clues exist.

    Registered mail is very secure.

  • "Stuff not worth enough to bother with" Yeah....I like that one....I'll start using it.
    Wonder what pile PSA will throw that one in.
