rusted dies or cast fake?

Well it looks like I bought another fake $1 gold. Please let me know your opinions on it. thanks mike

        Wow, good point. It's difficult without seeing the rest of the coin but those raised (casting?) bubbles are suspicious.

        Can't tell from the pics.
        The 1853 was heavily counterfeited, don't know about the 1852-O.

        sharpness of the details appears valid in the image. i think you're ok. rusty dies are an extremely common characterstic of gold, & being a softer metal, it tends to (1) show more readily and (2) the dies would hodl the defects longer. note that few nickel coins show such rust pits.
