Air tight slabs

When will PCGS follow NGC's lead and develope an air tight slab? I would think it would be a profitable venture as many collectors would pay the money for a reholder to get the added security.

That is if PCGS could promise not to fingerprint our coins in the process.

Big whoop. Most holders are airtight. NGC just goes the extra mile by making it 100% and guaranteeing it. PCGS could do that if they wanted, but it would be an enormous waste of R&D.

If a holders airtight then there is no more need for buying and using intercept shields is there?

Yes you should still use intercept if you're storing the coin for a very very long time. Air and gasses will eventually travel THROUGH the plastic itself. Short term, there probably is no threat unless there is a fire. Then you'd be glad you had them in intercept, as long as they don't get burnt to a crisp.
