1876 Trade Dollar question (hashmarks?)

A question for Shiro or anyone else well acquainted with these: what are the the block shaped objects punched over Miss Liberty on this 1876 Trade dollar?

That looks like it was used as jewelry - those areas are where a pin would have been attached so it could be worn with the reverse facing outward. This is just an educated guess.

There are also some chopmarks on it.

The only one I can make out is "mon" (which means "letter").

Good thing it's a type I obverse.

It looks like that to me too. Myabe this one went back into circulation after its stint as a piece of jewelry.
