Caveat Emptor on PSA 10 Ryan Card

Check out this card.....seems like a fire sale for a card that lists at over $200 in SMR but has a buy it now for just $80.....does it seem like there is a chunk of the card missing on the top edge?? How then is it a 10?? And why is it being "given away" for $80?? B.I.N. price seems to answer the question of the missing chunk.....

When is a PSA 10 not a PSA 10

The weird thing is that I just looked at completed auctions on Ebay and see a PSA 10 Ryan of the same card sold for $57 in mid-July, from the same seller.....man, I think that is pretty cheap for a PSA 10 of Ryan from the early 80's.....still, it still looks like the card in the link above is missing a piece....

regardless of what the SMR states,
look at these recent CLOSED auctions for the exact same card:
    US $57.76 (reserve met)
    US $59.09 (reserve met)
    US $95.00 (reserve met)
and there are about a dozen PSA 9's that sold around the $8 mark....
(book value is often not "real value")

the "chunk" from the card, I think it is just a part of the scan...

I would also vouch for rushoeless. I've bought many cards from him and have always been happy. Just ask him your about your concerns.

Other than BBC Exchange, Shoeless Joe's is the only other dealer that I'll buy from with blind confidence. If there's any questions or problems he ALWAYS deals with them fairly. Period. End of story.

As for the 82F PSA10 Ryan. . .As has been mentioned, actual market price has been in the $50-$60 range for a while now.
There are a few reasons for this-
    - There's still a ton of unopened 82F product available
    - The Ryan has a population of 22 in PSA10

    I'm actually building a PSA-graded 82F set - with a goal of a 9.5 GPA. So needless to say, I've been keeping an eye on 82F PSA10s.
Right now I'm 7.12% complete with a GPA of 9.38 - 47 PSA-graded 82F - 29 PSA9s and 18 PSA10s. The most I've paid for any of the 10s so far is $36. There a few that ended a couple weeks ago that went for $45-$50 and I was outbid (including a Ryan).
I regularly pick up 82F PSA9s in the $6-$7 range. Right now I don't have either the Ryan or the Ripken - holding out for tens on both. image

This is one of the few 20+ year-old sets you can do in PSA9 for not much more than the cost of grading.

I agree with Jeff. I have dealt with rushoeless on many occasions and found them to be excellent in all areas. They went out of their way to accomadate me in regards to shipping to Canada.

    Rushoeless is a top-notch seller.

As for his 1982 Fleer -- he has submittied *tons* of this product in the last 6-12 months. Huge population increases in PSA 9s, with most cards submitted in quantity now having at least a PSA 10 population of one or more. Though 1982 Fleer is a distinct memory from my childhood (As a first-grader, I bought packs of the product from our school store...), I will admit that this is probably the most out of focus set I have ever seen. Some really nice cards -- and I like some of the group cards near the end of the set, but I can't say as I have ever seen one great picture from any card in this set.

My favorite card, of course, is Mike Schmidt #637 where he is holding all of his trophies. What a MAN!
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • I would have to agree with all the comments that have already been posted. I've done business with this seller many times before, and always received excellent service. He's one of the few sellers (along with bbcexchange and dslsports) that I will buy from without hesitation.

Ditto on what the others have said already...plus he has one of the best "checkout" services Ive seen...a nice, quick no hassle invoice!

  • The only "complaint" I have about rushoeless is that he snatched up a '38 Goudey that someone put on ebay with a more than reasonable BIN last weekend. If only I'd gotten up earlier on Sunday morning it might have been mine! C'est la vie.

As a seller, he is top-of-the-line all the way.
