    They'll lose him to free agency and since there's still a chance they'll be around next year, they wanted to get something in return. They've pretty much given up. The rumor was if they were more than 10 games back by the deadline, they'd deal Floyd and Colon, they're only 7 or so back right now.

    excellent trade for the Sox...I would have rather seen them get Durham though...this means Nixon will probably get traded for starting pitching
