Well despite reports – nothing is DONE – It amuses me that most notable media outlets are labeling the pending deal between the Cavaliers and Clippers as DONE. According to the Cavaliers they had nothing to announce, the Clippers mirrored that but added that they were still working through things. The agents for the respective players mirrored what the teams were saying repeating nothing was done yet, but yet the headlines everywhere were DONE DEAL. Admittedly the two sides appear to have reached a deal but some details are still being worked, and a Cavalier source said last night they were trying to get a guard included in the deal, and hinted it may be Clipper free agent Jeff McInnis or even the inclusion of Quentin Richardson- if either were to be included in the deal the reported structure would have to change. As it stands printed reports say Darius Miles and Harold Jamison would head to Cleveland while Bryant Stith and Andre Miller head to LA. Its also being reported that Jamison and Stith would both be waived after the trade clears the league office, which could be as early as today, but most likely tomorrow. The McInnis rumor adds a twist, but Cavs sources said that whether they land him in trade or not, they have opened talks with him at least on an introductory basis.
IN RELATED: Jeff McInnis is not the only option for Cleveland, printed reports from Ohio suggest the Cavs may have opened talks with the Spurs regarding Antonio Daniels, the way the rumor plays out is the Cavs may have offered Chris Mihm to the Spurs in exchange for Daniels. The word around the league is the Spurs with virtually no cash to spend are still looking for a reserve big man, and Mihm while limited, as a Cavalier still possesses a nice upside, and could fill the void should David Robinson go down. It’s also said that Travis Best could be a possible. The key to any deal for Cleveland is getting the players to agree to coming to Cleveland for what amounts to rebuilding. But based on the promising play of DeSagana Diop in the summer league, and the addition of Darius Miles and the re-signing of Ricky Davis, adding a solid guard could make the Cavs respectable fairly quick.
