eBay attribution guarantee program
Does anyone know if this service also covers attributions made by PCGS (and stated on the holders) that are incorrect, which dramatically impact the value of the coin?
I ask because there is currently an 1888-O Morgan on eBay whose PCGS holder says VAM 1B Scarface Top 100, but it is actually an Early Die State example. PCGS does certify EDS examples of this VAM, but they are noted on the holder as Early Die State and Minor Variety. The eBay coin is listed at $7,500. But as an EDS it is only worth one or two hundred (and overpriced at that IMO).
When in doubt, don't.

I don't think they will verify the variety unless it is a clear mechanical error. For a dense operation, realistically, the most authentication for an already authenticated coin would be a barcode scan and verify the information. Searching for counterfeit holders is the main priority for slabbed coins. They are not variety and error experts.

A Vam-1B can be an EDS. Maybe it's in an earlier holder and PCGS didn't attribute die states at the time? Pre-Vam1-B1, 1B2, 1B3, etc.
