Was wondering since most of our grandkids never saw or heard of Sussan b dollars, down the line will they have any collector value to their grand kids.

Lots of coins that people today never saw or heard of by way of first hand experience are collected.
What won't exist for them is any kind of sentimental connection since they've never used them. But then again most people never used them. š
Last year my son told me he had received a couple in change... as quarters.
They are still out there and still confusing people as to what they are.
Ever since I got out of the Army after my first tour in ā79, I heard about this ānarrow rim or wide rimā.
At this age, I donāt know why I still look, when I get them.

And stillā¦. Theyāre just a buck, mistaken for āanother weird quarterā. š¤«

Hi and
Welcome to the Forum
š
The Susan B. Anthony coins are unique. Special in a few ways. For one, only a 3 year program!
You mentioned the children.

Whether they'll be interested or not?
In one area, I can almost promise you. That the kids will be fascinated by the variety aspect!
In the 1979 year. There is a special variety that is more valuable (not much more) than a regular 1979. In the P mint (Philadelphia). It's called, "The Near Date". or "Wide Rim".
Where the year, on the Obverse (the front). This detailed variety are only on the ones with the Date closer, or "nearer" to the rim of the coin than the normal ones!
I found many.
This is where I think the children would be excited to hunt for? I can hear them saying,
"Ooh, I found one!"

These are only on the business strikes, not on the Proofs.
The 1979P's, not the 1979S's,

Good Luck
and once again...

Don't be a stranger. Post often and most of all,
HAVE FUN!
Example:
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I give those and other dollar coins out as tips and explain as I do, but thereās no explaining needed for the two dollar bills!
If youāre asking whether the coins will be worth more than face value, if so, I think any premium would be negligible.
Mark Feld* of Heritage Auctions*Unless otherwise noted, my posts here represent my personal opinions.
I would just note that they are actually four years if you include 1999.

Sadly my crystal ball is broken so I cannot see into the future. But my magic 8-ball said no dice. I cannot see these catching fire in the future in an overall sense, only the very top pops will command any significant premium for the registry chasers just as it is now.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I think the 99s were not in any mint sets or in circulation. I discovered I actually ordered these; I have a '99P and D UNC and a Proof '99P. Sent them in to be graded recently; the D came back MS67 and I got 1 P70 '99P.
It looks like the PCGS price guide indicates $65 for the MS67 D and $100 for the P70 P. (for what its worth)
might explain why we get them as quarters more times then not (or used to these days)
Lol,
Oh yeah, I stand corrected. Thanks
1999, how could I forget that?
That's the year we bought our house!

I think they may be a good way to teach people about Susan B Anthony. Iām guessing if you gave some to a kid, they would be curious enough to learn more about her. Like maybe have the coin come to life and teach kids about her life
