Regarding proof set 1973, nickel (cooper color)

I have a Proof set from 1973 in which the nickel has a cooper color on the reverse memorial. Not too sure if it is an environmental discoloration as the rest of the coin looks normal in it's luster/finish. Any advise, I really don't have much of a problem removing the coin for further inspection if need be, hopefully not. Thanks for your expert advise.

    Photos?

It's probably just toning but photos would confirm that.
