It seems like normal to me.
I'm wondering if the upgrade was part of a chain reaction that resulted from the business need to upgrade something else. Another possibility is that Vanilla ended support for the software that was being used and forced an upgrade our hosts weren't ready for, and there's nobody with the bandwidth to deal with the problems that can come with such an upgrade. I'm surprised nobody like @pcgs_social or @PCGS_Moderator have written a "remain calm, all is well" post, but they may be waiting until they know what to post.

A thread started by a moderator would be nice, if for no other reason, to acknowledge the situation and to apologize for the lack of a head’s up.

Another good purpose would be to consolidate all of the issues we encounter in 1 place, instead of "n" different threads.
Does no one remember the weekend that the entire website glitched recently and various pages would be income inaccessible at times? This upgrade needed to happen. Is it perfect? No. Things will work out eventually. At least we can read each other's posts.
We don't need multiple threads on this.
Guess I shouldn't go on vacation. I come back here and find this site almost totally unreadable. It might as well be in Wing Ding font. The formatting is pretty bad too. Hoping that the IT folks address the concerns here; I worked in IT for decades and this approach looks like "testing in production."

I had seen that, but felt that it won’t be viewed by nearly as many forum members. And if a moderator would (as they should) start a thread, suggestions and issues could be posted in one thread instead of being scattered elsewhere.

Recently I put a few trolls here on my ignore list. Of course, the ignore list is nothing new but I would have liked to have seen a more "total ignore" put in place with the update. What that means to me is the ability to ignore a troll even if said troll is quoted by one who is not on my ignore list.

Mistakes are natural. But repeated mistakes without reflection are something else. That may be the “stupidity” he was referring to. In research, he admitted uncertainty openly. “If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?” This shows humility. Even a Nobel laureate accepted doubt. That humility makes the quote less cynical and more observational.
At least give us a dark mode. My eyes!
