I just spent an hour or so looking at Saturn through my 6” refractor. The scope is awesome but ungodly heavy. I trashed the original computerized Meade mount, the electronics and teeny plastic gears inside failed and despite a monstrous metal tripod it vibrated and was junk. Out came my high school era Edmund mount, wood legs, lighter and shorter. Since my legs are crap I sit on a blanket to view. Saturn was brilliant yellow with some cloud banding. The rings were solid, I couldn’t make out the Cassini division the seeing was not the best, but seen five moons. Very close to Saturn is Neptune. With a bit of looking I found the diminutive blue fuzzy tiny disc. Even at 240x it’s a tiny blue ball. It’s color , a distinctive ice blue sets it apart from any stars. it’s fascinating to be able to see this stuff from your back yard.
