1918/7 D Buffalo Nickel…another “what a shame”

I would have loved to see what this overdate looked like before it was lost and spent who knows how long in the ground.
Even in this condition the 8 over 7 is still quite visible.

It’s not the worst I’ve seen. Clear overdate and VF details, maybe?

The nickel probably was not in the ground. Every single Buffalo or Liberty Nickel that I ever found with my metal detector back in the day had a uniformly dull brown color with no darker areas or lighter areas whatsoever.
Also in harsche condition.
Cool! My first “big coin” was an 18/7-D. It was in an unattributed soapbox and heavily corroded.
