The phillies have called a 6:30 news conference to announce the trading of Scott Rolen to the Cardinals for Bud Smith and Placido Polanco with the possibility of a minor leaguer being involved as a 3rd player (Journell)

    And, are you glad that he's being traded...or are you unhappy about him being traded?

    I don't know about you, but when people say that he's the "greatest 3B ever"...it makes me want to puke. I admit, he's d@mn good at 3B, but the "greatest ever" is taking it a little out of hand. That's my opinion of course as well as other people saying he's the greatest they've ever seen. They must haven't seen much if they want to say that. Maybe in this era...the best...but not the best ever.

    Rolen is one of the better defensive 3rd basemen that IVE ever seen...and im young...but either robinson or schmidt has to be the best ever (sorry...chipper isnt all that either image)

    I think his leaving creates a hole in our team and our lineup...but im glad we got something for him....and im pretty happy with this deal, but sorry to see him go

    Brooks was the best (defensively) at third

    I agree that Chipper isn't all that great at 3B (when he was there...he's now in LF! imageHe would have made the All-Star team for the 6th straight season if he was at 3B...because Rolen isn't having a better season than Chipper and he would have gotten that spot...easily...like he always has), but Chipper is consistent. Rolen is definitely a better defensive player...but offensively and clutch...he's no where near Chipper. It's sure as hell going to make the Cardinals A LOT better! They already have a great team...and then they get Rolen? Ouch!

    By the way, I like Burrell...he's got a great future ahead of him. image

    It was a good trade for Philly;at least they got something for him.He
    will be a big help for the Cardinals,that's for sure.This is shaping up to be a great post season in the National League barring any strike.
    Alot of good teams getting better down the stretch.
    Can't wait to see who else makes some moves before the trading deadline.Great time of year for baseball!
