Bad day for Bill Miller today - 
Umpire’s ABS nightmare: Bill Miller has 8 pitches challenged, each one overturned
27-year veteran umpire and crew chief went 0-for-8 on ABS challenges, three by the Reds and five by the Cubs. Just nine plate appearances into the Friday matinee, Miller was charged with his first ABS challenge, on an 0-1 four-seamer from Cincinnati starter Rhett Lowder on the corner that should’ve been called a strike.
By the end of the ninth inning, eight in all were called, all overturned. Of those eight, only two were initially called strikes.

Im not sure its actually that no one cares, I know I do, more so just knowing Umpiring has been a problem for a long time. which is why people want the robot ones since MLB wont fire any of them unless its gambling related. Theres a bunch of umps that have bad percentages on challenges

8 is a lot. When I saw your post I looked up what’s normal. Normal is around 5 challenges with 2 overturned. 8 overturned had happened 3 other times. It’s not good. Not sure how this relates to what’s being weapinized with respect to the WNBA.

I just find it a bit strange that Baseball isn't talked much on this sports forum. I personally really only listen to the Guardians (Indians) but read other stories on MLB.com and find the final month before the playoffs start very entertaining.

Though ABS has improved the quality of umpiring this season, it does seem a bit intrusive at times. Or, sometimes I find myself thrusting a clenched fist at the TV because an obvious ball was called a strike and I shout "TAP YOUR HAT DAMMIT!"

Well they already sped the game up by way of the pitcher clock - so a few seconds here and there isn't going to affect the game time that much.

Its really not even about pace of play, more just stop protecting their feelings. They arent looking at anything, theres nothing objective if the system is being used like close plays sometimes can be. Just make the call and move on when the answer is known immediately

And if you notice - the catchers get more of the overturned calls than the hitters do.............. so what feelings are hurt???????

I'ts not like they can challenge every pitch!And Sale threw 5 strikes to K Othani the other day. What does either thing have to do with what happens with process once a challenge is made?

Here’s some baseball talk. Jac Caglionne should be player of the month for August in the AL which is incredible after his rough start last season when KC threw him to the wolves too soon.
Boston announcer made a complete fool of himself after going off on Jazz Chisum for stealing second and third base with the Yanks ahead 7-1 in the eighth inning. First off… a 6 run lead isn’t a guaranteed win even in the 8th inning, the first and second basemen weren’t making any attempt to hold him close, and it turned out the manager signaled him to steal both bases.
The Brewers are relentless and I’m picking them to win the WS this year. It’s really fun watching hitters like them getting the job done so consistently. It’s seems like the offense never has two bad games in a row. Like getting blown out by the Cubs the first game and coming back to win the second game 9-4.
I think Eric Hosmer is doing a great job as color announcer. The problem is KC doesn’t have him on enough. Great voice, some great insights and I see mlb network is hiring him quite a bit. His career looks bright as an announcer.

Kwan from the Guardians has turned his season around with a strong August also.........

The Rams owner who also owns the Nuggets. Avalanche, Aresenal F.C. and some others is now the controlling owner pf the Angels. His wife is tone of the daughters of the Walmart co-founder so money is no longer an excuse for them

True but there are examples like the Tigers, Nats, and Padres where they did spend when they knew they were close to the end. I do think their future will be brighter with the new owner for the Angels
