Unusual edge

One of my recent purchases was a very ordinary 960 reis, restruck from colonial 8 reales from the Lima in 1795. But these 8 reales, it seems to me, have an unusual edge. The edge design consists not of alternating rectangles and circles, but of only circles. Has anyone seen colonial 8 reales with this edge ?

I believe they were re-edged at as part of the overstriking process. I have one struck over a Chile 8 reales and although it is hard to see in its holder, it doesn't look like a Spanish colonial edge.
