You guys that make a living or subsidize your income selling on ebay should be up in arms about this change. It's going to drive buyers like myself to take there business someplace else.
Anything that would make it harder to find a specific coin in a specific grade is a drawback, we want to get in, do a search and get out.
Sorry to say that this change will severely impact you sellers unless you the sellers can appeal to ebay and change what they have done.

Sure, change upsets people. But you can do the same things you always did. The workflow is just different.

I did a search for some of the things I have for sale and found them easily enough but then, I'm not trying to filter with six different qualifying features.

I’m having search issues also. I enter a specific search with grade, tpg and a couple other specifics and get a bunch of garbage in the search results. I have not bought anything on eBay in months and this is one of the reasons. Besides the quality of materials being offered has taken a serious nosedive in the last couple of years.
For all those who continue to use eBay some of the above revelations of collectors abandoning the format and simply stop using it is a good thing. Less competition could lead to lower prices.
(On the flip side: it could also lead to less sellers willing to sell at lower prices.)
The prices for my coins on eBay are set by what I figure the coin is worth. The number of people looking for them or any potential difficulties with the search function is not a factor in pricing.
I've noticed over the past month or so that some boolean search operators were working intermittently on the Product Research page.
For example, if I searched "1921 morgan -d -s" it would work fine some days, but other days it would become "1921 morgan d s" (without the minus signs, aka useless).
Today, it works as expected.
But it seems eBay has been messing around with how their search functions, and not always for the better.

That's just one example of a recent search I wanted to do.

I have always had to scroll past coins with the wrong mint mark because the seller didn't check a box correctly, etc. But things are so much more difficult now. I hope ebay gets enough complaints to realize this was a bad idea. I've sent a couple emails so far.
I get 4 matches as well, but why are you including "Jefferson" in the search when that is implied by "1979"? Some sellers wouldn't necessarily include "Jefferson" in the listing and you'd get more matches.
Been selling there for a quarter century but now they keep my funds for up to 90 days after customer receives their items. They tell me only 3 days , but up to 90 days they tell me is how long they can hold my money. Wow.

The word "nickel" is right there -- it shouldn't be returns dimes or cents or anything other than nickels. Plus, you could limit your search to the Jefferson Nickel category instead of all coins, and you wouldn't even have to include the word "nickel" in your search.
More words just makes the search more strict. You're complaining about a missing filter because that filter was working for you. But you're using extra words here when the category (another filter, just more explicit) works better.
It really doesn't matter anymore, I will not be using ebay until they change it
What really gets me is how some of these people will defend ebay to the end even if it's a bad idea
