2026 SemiQ 250th Quarters Grading/Experiment

I thought I’d make this post to document the ongoing testing and grading process for my first “modern” submission. This time around, I also decided to submit to CACG for the first time.
After searching through several boxes and thousands of quarters, I narrowed everything down to nine examples that I believe were among the finest-condition coins I could locate.
I decided mostly on the Declaration of Independence design as this was probably my favorite design in circulation, especially since this was based on a beautiful 1801 Indian peace medal + reverse liberty bell is stunning. Also (2) Mayflower compact examples I liked.
After comparing them with PCGS-graded examples in MS66 and MS67, I believe these coins either meet or exceed the standards typically seen at those grade levels, with the potential for some to grade even higher.
Although the following are 4th of July Privy, this was the closest sample examples I could find to mine. Two examples Graded MS66 by PCGS:

The obverse of the coin in your hand has a scratch on the jacket between the bottom and middle button.
Yup, still looks better (In my opinion) than both 66's above graded by PCGS.
Maybe. You didn't post a pic of the reverse. I suggest you do so if you want opinions on the potential grade.
I have a bunch of dimes, quarters, and half dollars from mint sets where I sold the cents at the peak FOMO. I have considered getting them graded but question whether values will even hold on MS67-68 once all the mint set coins make it through the pipeline.
Thanks for taking us on your journey, I love following along with grading submission posts. And since you submitted to CACG, the results should come in (relatively) quickly as well.
Here are the semi-Q quarter pops at CACG. Since you cherry picked for quality, my guess is you’ll do better than the median. However, there are very few 66s so the odds are not in your favor, but I hope you make one.

Yup, turn-around time seems to be rather quick + the summer special offering. Giving it a shot to see what happens! Target is at least a 66. I did use many PCGS ones to compare and reference when grading. Out of approx. 25-30 I chose 9 of the ones I deemed best. Updates to follow!
Even coming from mint sets I think it would be rather hard finding anything worthy to submit due to the poor quality control at the mint. You probably have just as much luck looking through a new fed roll as you probably do from a mint set tbh

What you will learn when submitting coins - especially at first - is prepare to be disappointed.
I've submitted out of rolls all year and have yet to get any 67s. I've submitted a few from the mint sets and I expect a few of those will achieve 67.
The one in your hand is a 65. It's easy to dismiss, but there's a lot of chatter on the shoulder. Finding coins with a clean shoulder is a challenge. There are also decent marks in the hair and the face has some abrasions.
As others have said, need to see the obverses. The other picture isn't good enough to grade from most of them appear to be 65's.
