Just had a lot pulled in the upcoming Heritage auction

Was tracking a lot to bid on tomorrow Heritage Auction and was notified this morning the lot was pulled. Has this happened to anyone else? I thought they have a reserve if it was the bid price.

did Heritage say why it was pulled? never had that happen here

It would help to know which lot it was, no harm not that it has been pulled to identify the lot. Could be there was a problem reported to Heritage by an onlooker. Hasn't happened to me but there have been similar reports of lots being pulled from auctions before.

I've participated in at least a dozen lots being pulled (at GC) for a coin that had been misattributed or had a mechanical error.

Been there, had that happen before. The item may have been misidentified in some form. Sometimes they come back up at a later auction.

I've heard several stories from said onlookers, about how they pointed something out and the auction got pulled.
It might show back up with revised details.

Yeah, I've been on both sides - wanting lots that got pulled, and reporting a problem that resulted in a lot being pulled.

Pulled lot at Heritage showed back up in a larger sale six months later and I won it then.

I've precipitated some corrections like this before for Capped Bust half dimes, and they have resulted in coins being pulled. If the correction was a simple one on Heritage's side, they just make the fix and depending on the "newness" of the listing, notify watchers of the update. But in January 2026, I reported a half dime that was misattributed by PCGS (an 1831 LM-1.3 that was originally labeled as an LM-1.2 - we're talking the appearance of a chip in the M and a small die crack to differentiate), and Heritage pulled it. I saw that Heritage pulled it (in fact, the link to the lot is completely severed). In addition, PCGS now has the coin correctly labeled as LM-1.3: https://www.pcgs.com/cert/56507638

Takeaway: Heritage, perhaps a consignor, and PCGS all did the right thing to make this right. In this instance, the difference in value is small, but in other remarriages the difference can be significant $$.

Not uncommon at all in the auction world. Sometimes the reason can just be a paperwork compliance issue and nothing more.

Yep. I was actually high bidder and suddenly the lot was gone. HA would only say the seller pulled the lot. I figured the note didn't draw the attention that the customer expected.

Yes, this is common. I have notified Heritage of coins that were misattributed that they then pulled, and I have had lots that I was tracking or bidding on that have been pulled -- no explanation, just that the lot was no longer available.
