Quick summer Fun Show Report

Reporter asked me for one word about the Summer Fun Show and I replied HOT

I’m not talking about the weather outside (it was hot 🥵 outdoors) but I was talking about the business on the bourse

So to preface this all let’s go back to yesterday and preshow …. Setup for dealers started Wed at 2pm. The line was long as dealers arrived eager to set up and attend a “big” show. It’s been a month since Baltimore and that to dealers seems like forever. Remember a lot of dealers also skipped out on Summer Baltimore knowing that they have several major shows. FUN, Bay State and of course ANA In Aug

So spirits were high and I had a great set up day moving quite a few coins to various dealers. That was for me at least the good news. Metals have been mixed they were down until last night when overseas events reversed prices and metals rallied

That’s good news for so many dealers on FUN bourse because so much of their inventory is “generally generic bullion stuff” Don’t hate me but at Scarsdale Coin we try to bring rare and interesting coins to shows. But I get it. There are not a lot of good stuff left. I could write for hours how we have a whole new breed of “dealers” who sell on social media platforms like Facebook, TikTok, whatnot etc. I do believe it’s good and bad for the hobby. Certainly it’s good to get more people exposed to coins but really bad when folks are paying $40 for $5 items Anyway hopefully they will learn and not get turned off to the hobby

But I have strayed from the post so today at the ribbon cutting the crowds poured in and by midday the bourse was packed.

We did quite a bit of sales. Tried to buy some unusual interesting and quality coins. Dropped off coins at all the grading services including a neat collection of errors that haven’t seen light of day for 45 years.

For now my time is up and I’ve got to get back to work

Hats off to again for running a top show including a Photo Booth at the entrance for people to take a moment home. Orlando is a great place to have a show and it shows. Enjoy a few pics and as I always say Hey have a great day!

@ScarsdaleCoin , I’m heading up there today. I have my Bourse Map circled with dealers like you, but I don’t see you listed in their dealer directory. What table number are you at?
