Every now and then I take some time and reimage my collection. Today was part of my favorite groups of coins, the contrasted examples of my 1936-1942 Proof coins. I figured I'd share to give everyone a small break from all of the talk about modern releases and throw some classics into the mix.
Enjoy!
Coin #1 - a beauty of a 1938 nickel, with a DCAM obverse and a near miss or CAM reverse depending on the grader and day. The obverse contrast on this PR67 FS-402 Recut Ribbon example really makes the coin special, and it truly does stand out. 1938 nickels are especially well made when compared to later years, and this represents one of the finest of that first year of coinage.

Coin #2 - This PR66 CAC 1939 dime is part of one of the largest non-cent groups of contrasted examples for the year, and it just pops. Deep mirrors on the obverse show off the frost of the devices and presents the design exceptionally well.

Coin #3 - This PR65 CAC 1939 half has some of the best contrast for the date, and although I have heard rumors of an example existing with sun frost the PR64CAM PCGS example certainly does not have that feature. I'm happy with this one for the time being.

Coin #4 - This PR67 CAC 1941 is one of the random coins in my collection - I bought it for a screaming deal in an old NGC holder and then decided to have it reholdered for some reason. It later beaned and it does have a special kind of pop with the strong detail and brilliant surfaces. It's one I quite like, but doesn't fit super well in the collection like it used to back when I first bought it.

Coin #5 - This PR67 1942 quarter represents a major rarity, and the only year of 36-42 Proof quarters that appears with any noticeable frost at all. It is unknown how many look like this, but I'd imagine less than 20.

Coin #6 - This PR65 Star CAC 1942 half is an enigma to me, mainly because it is not in a CAM holder. Recent sales of graded CAM Walkers show lackluster frost and lacking mirrors, so it may be time to send this one in for another shot. Strong frost is seen across all devices, even into the sun. Deep mirrors finish off the contrasted appearance.
