Did you know there's a 1793 cent graded MS69?

I recently learned this and was shocked that (1) any coin left the Mint in 1793 as a 69 (or maybe it left as a 70?); (2) nothing happened to this coin in the last 233 years to knock it below 69; and (3) the coin was stored so well for so long that it had no environmental issues.

Yes. I remember seeing this coin being discussed in a YouTube video over 10 years ago. I believe it was part of Martin Logies' collection at that time.
Is this the coin that the EAC guys call “The Coin”?
Nope, that title belongs to the Specimen Proof 67 Chain Cent traced back to Mickley, Crosby, Brand, and others.
As for the coin in question, I saw it in person at Jay Parrino’s table at the 1994 ANA.
Personally, I’m waiting for a 70 with the First Strike designation
I recall that as well, but in the interim maybe this will suffice?

Where is that guy these days?
I always picture him and ANACONDA sharing a pitcher of Margaretta's.

It isn't hard to imagine the Mint producing a perfect coin back then, but the challenge of surviving in the condition is a story worth telling.

Yes, but it certainly is not something I think about. Way out of my lane.

I wonder how it managed to stay in such good condition for all these years!

Do you mean sharing a picture of Margaretta?
