Considering that its already 7 PM on the 15th and the last PO listed is a thousand miles away I'm thinking not to expect it today despite what this says....

Is this unusual?? Normal business to me. Some packages get there quicker, some slower.

Normal business for USPS, not for everyone else. Usually when you get a delivery date from somewhere, be it in one day 2 days 2 weeks or even 2 months that's when you get your package. Except for USPS. And Temu and Ali Express ;-)
I have a PO box and in my experience, "Expected delivery" has always meant "Receipt by the local post office", not that the package was available for pickup. The only tracking that means a shipment has arrived is one that says "Delivered, In/At Mailbox."
YMMV, of course.
I had the same message, though mine DID arrive this morning. I DID choose 2-3 day shipping, so must look into that as I don't trust the USPS one iota....... it's as if The Three Stooges run the joint.......
up to and including priority mail, the times are just estimates and not guaranteed. the op must be new at this as it is quite normal-abnormal for packages not to get scans and show up mysteriously late. you'll also see packages taking tour routes and even registered mail go missing for a month or more
I always pick free shipping and get my coins in two or three days. Same for priority, first class or advantage. I must be in a major shipping route. Never a damaged package or even banged up. Our local mailman for 20 years or more is great.
