Gai 9 1977 skywalker - comparative value to psa 9
Hi folks - bought this yeaaaaars ago for like $80…..early GAI when psa graders went over there….1st graded GAI 9 - no idea how many they ended up grading….
I edited out the serial number and the barcode on the back as they don’t need to be out there….
Just curious what folks think…..value, worth crossing over, reliability of early GAI grades, et

Honestly I hold onto my GAI 1st graded slabs. I think it’s kind of neat.
So the 1st graded wasn’t a gimmick or anything - it’s the first one graded at that grade for the card??
Were they pretty solid on grades back then??
it's a gimmick and I could argue why it's good or bad or meaningless...
It's from an older era when all grading was different so you might set lower expectations for crossover. I imagine you'll have lots of opinions forthcoming. It really comes down to the card itself and a little bit of luck that you don't get a donk grader.
The fisheye by the end of Luke’s name likely means PSA 7 or PSA 8. I would keep in the GAI holder.
That's a nice card - thx for sharing!
I would just leave it in its holder. Good catch on the fish eye. I would probably collect some other images of these in 7 to 9 grade from SGC/Beckett/PSA and see if you can get a better feel for what to expect if you were to cross it.
The reverse of the card on the bottom edge looks suspect - or perhaps it's just the gasket - hard to tell.

Thanks for the feedback!!! It’s a sharp card for sure…
