Need advice on a monster card
Hello all, I bought a collection at a yard sale yesterday and it contained a 1998 Donruss Preferred Precious Metals Gold /50 Roger Clemens. I do like Roger but he isn’t someone I specifically collect or need to hold on to.
This could be a 5-figure card for me which is completely out of my collecting zone. There are no recent sales on eBay. Recent sales for big names (Bonds PSA 9, Jeter ungraded) are 2k+. I personally put Clemens at that level though I don’t know about other collectors.
Is this a card I should 100% grade, or put on eBay with a 3k OBO and see what happens? Any serious advice is greatly appreciated!

Put it on eBay unless you want to sub it through a 3rd party and wait 18 months to get it back.

By the way I meant 4-figure, not 5 but I can’t edit the post.
If a Jeter Raw did 2856 and a Bonds PSA 9 did 2700 .. I'd just throw it up on the bay for 2999 and see what comes.
good luck!

consign via Greg Morris or 4SC

Spot on - consign with Greg Morris or 4SC. By far the best option.
Might qualify as vintage by then.😀
What are the benefits of consignment beyond wider reach than my own eBay store? Would my percentage to them be higher than eBay’s? Is this negotiable?
I think this could be big too but more like $500 range.
you could also try selling on one of the 90s facebook pages. you wouldnt have to pay fees their either
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
That’s a big Wood card too.

If you look at completed sales via VCP or ebay you can quickly see that Greg Morris and 4SC usually provide a higher return.
