“Ripken in the Minors”

Feeling nostalgic tonight and wanted to come back to essentially where it all began twenty years ago. Some of you may remember me. Some may not. Either way, I wanted to say hello again to some while introducing myself to others.

After extensive rebuilding, reorganizing, and revisiting nearly twenty years of content, Ripken in the Minors is officially back.

When this site launched on October 19, 2006, the goal was simple: to document and share information about Cal Ripken Jr.'s minor league cards. The site was born from a frustrating experience after unknowingly purchasing a counterfeit Ripken minor league card. As I began researching the hobby's most recognizable minor league issues, I quickly realized that reliable information was often difficult if not impossible to find.

From the beginning, Ripken in the Minors was created to help protect collectors and prevent others from going through the same experience. What started as an effort to identify authentic cards and expose counterfeits soon grew into a passion for preserving the history surrounding Cal Ripken Jr.'s minor league career.

Over the years, the site has expanded far beyond the cards themselves. Today, Ripken in the Minors features interviews, ballparks, programs, photographs, videos, newspaper archives, and original research dedicated to documenting the people, places, stories, and collectibles connected to Cal Ripken Jr.'s journey through Minor League Baseball.

This rebuild was undertaken with one purpose in mind: to better preserve and share that history for collectors, researchers, baseball fans, and future generations. Thousands of images, pages, and records have been reviewed, updated, and reorganized in an effort to create a cleaner and more enjoyable experience for visitors while ensuring that this information remains accessible for years to come.

As Ripken in the Minors approaches its twentieth anniversary, I am reminded that the greatest part of this journey has never been the cards themselves. It has been the people. I remain incredibly grateful to the many collectors, former players, team officials, authors, historians, hobby publications, auction houses, and baseball fans who have shared their time, knowledge, photographs, memories, and encouragement over the past two decades. This site would not exist without your generosity, support, and willingness to help tell these stories.

Whether you have been visiting Ripken in the Minors since the early days or are discovering the site for the very first time, thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoy exploring the history, stories, and collectibles that continue to make Cal Ripken Jr.'s minor league career such a fascinating chapter in baseball history.

Welcome back, and thank you for being part of the Ripken in the Minors story.
